the heart behind the 5k
In support of the Meena Project, we are hosting a 5k run/walk on Saturday, May 9th at Moraine Hills State Park. The Meena Project is a faith-based initiative transforming lives in Daulatdia, Bangladesh – home to one of the world’s largest and most desperate brothel communities. By partnering with local leaders, the Meena Project provides daily meals, healthcare, education, and hope in Christ for more than 300 children and their families. Through your support, children are rescued, restored, and released to a future of dignity and opportunity in Christ.

faq's
Where is the race being held?
We are running in the Moraine Hills State Park located at 1510 S River Road, McHenry, IL 60051. Enter the park from River Road and follow it to the end where you will find the Leatherleaf Bog Trail.
Where should I park?
Park near the Leatherleaf Bog Trail. Watch for signs directing where to go.
Can I bring a stroller, wagon, wheelchair, etc.
Yes! The Leatherleaf Bog Trail is 3.2-miles (medium difficulty) and wheelchair (stroller, wagon) accessible. The trial is primarily crushed limestone and asphalt. It has a combination of flat trail and hills.
Will the 5k happen rain or shine?
Yes, that is the plan. In the event of any significant weather event that would make the 5k unsafe, we would notify all participants of any changes via email and text.
Will this be an official timed or sanctioned 5k?
While this will not be an official sanctioned 5k, we are planning to have an official timekeeper for those who'd like to keep track of their time. For those who have running apps that track your distance and time, the use of these is recommended as well for your own benefit.
Are their prizes?
Aside from the prize of knowing your donation is helping to feed, educate, and support children in Bangladesh, there is no official prize at this time. There will, however, be a free t-shirt for all participants while supplies last.
Do I need to bring anything?
We will have drinking water and some light refreshments available for the beginning and/or end of the 5k. Beyond that, bring anything you want to have with you for the 5k.
Will there be access to public restrooms?
Yes, there will be bathrooms available at the beginning and end of the race, but none along the running/walking route.
How can I give directly to the Meena Project or sponsor a child?
To sponsor a child or to give directly to the Meena Project, please contact the Hope Network (https://www.thehopenetwork.global) and they would be happy to assist you.
Can I help sponsor a future 5k for the Meena Project?
Yes! Thank you for asking. At the time, we are planning on making this a yearly event and would love to partner with like minded individuals, companies, and organizations. If you would like to learn more, please contact us at steve@meadowlandchurch.org.
Are dogs allowed during the 5k?
Per park rules, yes dogs are allowed but they are expected to be on leash at all times and you are expected to clean up after your dog.
